Back to Our Experts

John served for almost 31 years with Strathclyde Fire & Rescue Service, the last twelve years of which was as a full time fire investigator, before joining IFIC Forensics in 2010.

John was fully involved in the development of Strathclyde’s first full time Fire Investigation unit in Scotland and its modus operandi. He was also responsible for the development of a suite of data collection forms, which form the basis of a Scottish national standard and he has represented both Strathclyde Fire and Rescue Service and CFOA(S) at national forums on the development of fire investigation and crime scene standards.

During his career John has developed and delivered a fire investigation training package targeted at first responding officers and fire fighters both locally and nationally within a Scottish context. He has also delivered presentations to both Scenes of Crime Officers and Forensic Scientists and has also organised training with the objective of improving fire investigation procedures and evidence recovery techniques at deliberately set fires.
